Supervisor Leenhouts announces closure of Town offices on Monday, April 8
With the historic solar eclipse set to unfold on Monday, April 8, Penfield Town Supervisor Jeff Leenhouts has announced Town of Penfield offices will be closed on Monday, April 8.

The closure impacts all offices and programs including the Town Hall, Penfield Recreation, Penfield Department of Public Works, and Penfield Public Library. Essential employees will continue working during the closure.

"The goal in closing our offices is to reduce commuter traffic and allow our employees to enjoy this historic event with their families," said Supervisor Jeff Leenhouts. "The safety of our residents and those visiting is my top concern. While our offices will be closed, we are still prepared to welcome the influx of visitors by working closely with our regional partners to ensure the day goes smoothly."

The Town of Penfield will host a town-wide event to celebrate the occasion with an eclipse watch party at Harris Whalen Park from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m.
