The Penfield Town Historian curates and preserves town-owned historic collections, documents, photographs, artifacts, and records that have importance to the founding and continuing growth of the town of Penfield. The historian also researches, writes, and makes public presentations on aspects of town history, serving as a resource to the community.
The historian operates the Local History Room (located within the Penfield Public Library) holding regular office hours to make the collection and other resources available to the public.
The historian serves as a non-voting advisor to the Town’s Historic Preservation Board and liaison to the Local History Room Advisory Committee.
