The Penfield Pops Band, conducted by Ken Scott, performs throughout the Penfield and Rochester area year-round.

The first Tuesday of each month the Penfield Rotary Band will play two hours of your favorite big band sounds for dancing and listening.

This moving ceremony features a variety of tributes to veterans, including guest a speaker, essays by middle school students, and reflective music provided by Penfield Pops Band.
A highlight of the ceremony is Penfield’s traditional Presentation of Roses. During this time, community members honor and remember fallen military personnel with a rose placed on the Veterans Memorial monument stone.

The Presentation of Roses at Penfield's Memorial Day Ceremony of Remembrance is a special and unique event. It is a moving way to honor those who gave their lives fighting for our freedom, and those who fought for our freedom and have since passed away.
To include a friend or family member in our remembrance, please fill out the form below.
Once we receive this form we will name the individual(s) during the ceremony. Please plan to attend the ceremony to carry the rose for your honoree. Instructions will be given during the ceremony.

All students, grades 6-8, in all Penfield schools, or who are Penfield residents, are invited to submit essays to compete in the Town of Penfield annual Memorial Day Essay Contest.
ESSAY TOPIC: What is Patriotism to Me?
Essays should be 500 words or less, typed at 12 point Times New Roman font, double-spaced, and no more than two (2) pages in length. Please do not put names directly on the entry. Please submit the entry form, attached to essay, for identification.
Essays are judged by a panel and each entry is ranked for excellence by each judge. All entries are marked only with a number for identification before being sent to the judges, in order to assure fairness.
The top three entries will receive cash awards:
1st place: $175 | 2nd place: $125 | 3rd place: $100
Winners must be able to be present at the Town of Penfield’s Memorial Day Ceremony on Monday, May 31 in order to be eligible to win.
