Advisory boards and committees play an essential role in local government by providing counseling and advice regarding the handling of a proposed application or project to legal boards. A legal board can consider whether or not to accept the recommendations given to them by advisory boards and committees.
Whether created by the Penfield Town Board or by New York State Statutes, each group is established to secure the participation of citizens to promote good government and the effective and efficient delivery of services.
The Penfield Town Board encourages residents to participate in local government and appoints a number of positions each year for a range of volunteer opportunities.
