Town of Penfield Memorial Day ceremony set for May 29
The Town of Penfield will host its Memorial Day Ceremony of Remembrance on Monday, May 29 at Penfield Amphitheater in Veterans Memorial Park (3100 Atlantic Ave). The ceremony will begin at 10:30 a.m.  

This annual event will honor fallen veterans and includes remarks by guest speaker Minh-Tuan (Richard) H. Nguyen. 

Nguyen, a Rochester native, graduated from the U.S. Naval Academy in 2016. He then served on the USS Alexandria (SSN 757) in San Diego, CA as the Operational Safety Officer, Diving Officer, Reactor Controls Assistant, Damage Controls Assistant, and Electrical Officer from 2018-2020, and as the International European & African Operations Manager at Commander, Task Force Six Nine (CTF-69) in Naples, Italy coordinating all submarine and special operations for NATO and allied partners in the European and African theaters from 2020-2022. His current duty is the Director of Scholarships and Officer Programs for Western and Central New York.

The ceremony will also feature the reading of essays by middle school students and Penfield’s traditional Presentation of Roses. During this time, community members remember fallen military personnel with a rose placed on the Veterans’ Memorial monument stone.
