The project, which was officially approved by the Penfield Town Board on March 6, features 10 pickleball courts, a picnic area, an open-air pavilion, two inclusive playgrounds, walking trails, restrooms, and a parking area.
Genesee Construction is leading the project with work scheduled to be completed by late fall. Throughout construction, areas of the property will be impacted, including trail closures. Property visitors are asked to observe all posted signage and keep clear of the construction area. The Town of Penfield will share relevant closure notices and updates throughout the project.
“This recreation area is going to be a nice addition to our community,” said Supervisor Jeff Leenhouts. “The new amenities including the pickleball courts, two inclusive playgrounds, and enhanced walking trails will offer something for residents of all ages to enjoy.”
A formal groundbreaking event is planned for mid-April. Event details will be available in the coming weeks.
