Little Free LibraryThe Little Free Library
Have you peeked at the new blue box by the outdoor seating area at the Community Center lately? No, it's not a mini Tardis...or is it? It's a Little Free Library! The idea is that anyone at any time can take a book or leave a book in the Little Free Library, so you'll always have a way to grab some reading material and see what your neighbors have been reading.

Th
is awesome Little Free Library was donated by The Friday Club, the original founders of the Penfield Library in 1942. The Penfield Friday Club was formed by nine women who first met in 1939 as a social and literary group. The club was the nucleus of the group which met in 1941 to form the Penfield Free Library. The grand opening of the Penfield Library was held on February 25, 1942 in a tiny house on Liberty Street.

We're so grateful to The Friday Club for this wonderful embodiment of their legacy and hope you'll join us in nurturing this small, special collection of community reads!
