Supervisor Debbie Drawe announces approval of 2024 budget, tax rate remains flat

On Wednesday, November 1 the Penfield Town Board adopted the 2024 Town of Penfield Budget. The final budget totals $22,981,961. For 2024, the tax rate will remain flat at $2.10 with the Town of Penfield continuing to maintain one of the lowest tax rates in Monroe County.

Within the 2024 budget, new services and programs have been added. Areas of note include:
  • New sustainability initiatives including the addition of a contract arborist and increased funding for Town-wide tree planting program
  • Enhanced safety and security for Town facilities
  • Addition of a full-time IT professional to improve Town operations
Of property taxes in Penfield, Town taxes account for only 7% of the total tax bill. This equates to just under $50 per month for the average property owner. The remainder of the annual tax bill is for county and school taxes.

Town Supervisor Debbie Drawe
“During each budget development process, our goal is always to enhance services and programs while being mindful of the tax burden to our residents. For the 2024 budget, we have done exactly this. Our tax rate remains flat while enhancing sustainability programs and continuing our focus on public safety.”

Town Comptroller Barbara Chirdo
“I want to thank our Town Board for leading us through this process and developing a sound budget for 2024. The Town of Penfield is committed to fiscal responsibility and this budget is representative of that.”
