Penfield’s Town Code is currently silent on a wide range of commercial/non-residential applications of sustainable land uses and development projects on private property. A team of town staff are currently working on drafting updates to the Penfield Zoning Code (Chapter 250) that would address these items, and other alternative energy projects and issues, as needed. While these regulations are being formulated and until they’ve been adopted by the Town Board, the Town is considering enacting a moratorium on these types of development applications. The moratorium is intended to stay in place until the Town Board has adopted a zoning amendment to address the alternative energy development applications not currently address by Penfield’s Town Code.
