Save the Date: Supervisor Jeff Leenhouts announces solar eclipse celebration and viewing event on April 8

It may still be a few months away, but Supervisor Jeff Leenhouts and the Town of Penfield are excited to announce a special solar eclipse celebration event will be held on Monday, April 8. The event will take place at Harris Whalen Park from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m.

At approximately 3 p.m. on April 8, the Town of Penfield will be in the path of totality for a solar eclipse. What does this mean? According to NASA, a total solar eclipse occurs when the Moon passes between the Sun and Earth, completely blocking the face of the Sun. The sky will darken much as if it were dawn or dusk.

Food vendors and entertainment are scheduled to be at Harris Park as the community joins together to celebrate this unique event.

In the coming weeks, be on the lookout for additional details about the event.
