Supervisor's Note: Thank you, Penfield

It’s hard to believe my time as Penfield Town Supervisor is almost complete. Whether through my time in the Monroe County Legislature, on the Penfield Town Board, or most recently as Town Supervisor, I have thoroughly enjoyed working for our community since beginning my service as an elected official in 2006.

As I prepare to depart, I am proud of the work of this Town Board. From constructing new restrooms at Veterans Memorial Park, implementing new sustainability initiatives, and moving the planning process ahead for the rehabilitation of the Clark House and a new DPW facility, there is much to feel good about.

With that said, there is much work still to be done.

As we move into 2024, I am confident that I’m leaving the Town in capable hands as Town Supervisor-elect Jeff Leenhouts prepares to take the reins on January 1, 2024. He’s an incredibly hard worker with a love for Penfield. Those two traits will serve him well as he leads our Town into 2024 and beyond.

Linda Teglash and Kevin Berry will be new faces on our Town Board as well. I wish both much success as they begin their service.

Although leadership may be changing, I ask all residents to stay engaged and stay involved. Local government works best when the community is actively participating. I encourage you to attend meetings, ask questions, and be involved in the process. As elected officials, we work for you, and that will not change.

Although my time as Town Supervisor will soon end, I’ll continue to be active in our community much as I have been throughout my life. If you see me around, feel free to say hello. I’ll be sure to say hello to you too!

I’d be remiss if I did not extend my deepest thanks to Linda Kohl who will also be leaving her post on the Town Board at the end of the year. Linda has served since she was first elected in 1991 and has been an integral of our community over the years. Thank you for all you’ve done for Penfield, Linda!

Happy holidays and Merry Christmas, and thanks for allowing me to serve you.

Debbie Drawe, Supervisor
