Town of Penfield awarded grant to celebrate agricultural history and enhance Four Corners District, ribbon-cutting held October 23

The Town of Penfield has received a $9,288 grant from the Genesee Valley Regional Market Authority to celebrate Penfield’s rich agricultural history and beautify the Four Corners District.

To celebrate the grant, a ribbon-cutting event was held on Monday, October 23 in Schaufelberger Park. Town Supervisor Debbie Drawe led the event with several local agriculture-related businesses in attendance. Brendan Tydings of GVRMA was also on hand to mark the occasion.

With grant funds, banners promoting local agriculture-related businesses have been hung on light poles in the area, and a bronze plaque commemorating the importance of agriculture in Penfield has been installed in Schaufelberger Park. Planter boxes with flowers will also now line the roadway in the summer months.

“We’re excited to continue to improve the Four Corners District while honoring the important role agriculture has played and continues to play in Penfield,” said Supervisor Debbie Drawe. “I want to thank the Genesee Valley Regional Market Authority and all Town staff members who played a role in securing the grant.”
