Town of Penfield CCA program renewed, new rates take effect December 2023

In August, the Penfield Town Board approved a contract to renew the Town’s Community Choice Aggregation program. The program administrator will remain Good Energy with Constellation New Energy continuing to serve as the energy supplier.

As part of the renewal, a new fixed rate has been established. New rates will go into effect for the December billing cycle. Much like the previous program, Penfield Green, which is the default product, offers residents 50% renewable electricity while Penfield 100 offers 100% renewable electricity.

New rates

Due to increasing energy prices over the past few years, the fixed-rate price has increased.

New rates for the program are outlined below and will not change for the duration of the renewal which lasts two years:
  • Penfield Green: $0.09665 per kWh
  • Penfield 100: $0.10849 per kWh
Opt out at any time

Eligible residents are automatically enrolled in the program per NYS law. However, residents can opt out of the program at any time.

If you previously opted out, no action is needed, and you will remain opted out of the program. To learn more about the opt-out process, click here.

A public information session led by Good Energy was held on Monday, September 18 in the Penfield Town Hall. A recording of the event can be watched here.

In mid-October, mailers were sent by Good Energy to properties currently enrolled in the program. The mailers outline the renewal process and explain how residents have the ability to opt-out at any point.
