Note from the Tax Receiver's Office:  School Tax season is just around the corner

School tax bills will soon arrive in everyone’s mailbox the first week of September.  The Town of Penfield will begin collecting school taxes on Friday, September 1.  The process for school tax collection is slightly different from town & county tax collection.

Below are a few friendly reminders about the process:

• If you choose to pay in installments, the first payment MUST be made by Friday, September 15  
• Payments can only be made for the EXACT amount indicated on the payment stub
• If that first installment isn’t paid by Wednesday, September 20, the installment option is no longer available AT ALL.
• Full payment, without interest, is due by Monday, October 2 

The tax office wants to offer a friendly reminder regarding the payment of taxes via your online banking account. These types of payments are HIGHLY DISCOURAGED:

• There is no guarantee, from the bank or the Town, that the payment will arrive in a timely manner
• These payments are delivered in envelopes that do not have a postmark
• If payment is received after the due date, it is considered late, and additional interest fees will be due, regardless of the date on the check
