Note from Town Supervisor Jeff Leenhouts: Working together to better our community

For over two decades, my family has been fortunate to call this community home, and I firmly believe there is no better place to raise a family than here in Penfield. This Town has given so much to me, and it is my goal as Town Supervisor to make it an even better place to call home.

Throughout my life, volunteerism and community involvement have always been important to me. My dad instilled these traits in me when I was very young, and they have only strengthened over the years. I have learned so much volunteering on numerous community boards such as Penfield Little League, Seneca Waterways Council (BSA), Boys & Girls Club, Rochester Regional Health, Rochester Rotary, and the Rochester Police Foundation. As Town Supervisor, I am driven by this commitment to serve that has guided me throughout my life.

In addition to my work in the community, I have spent my professional career as a financial advisor and project manager. This experience has given me the tools to lead our community successfully. As we move through 2024, there is much work to be done. I will continuously evaluate how we can operate more efficiently and better serve everyone in the Penfield community.

In the coming months, based on the feedback I have received in speaking with many of you, four areas will be of particular focus:
  • Improving and expanding brush and yard waste disposal opportunities
  • Advancing ongoing improvement projects, including the new Public Works facility
  • Strengthening partnerships with law enforcement and local businesses
  • Increasing opportunities for open communication with residents
This work will take a united team, and our Penfield Town Board, which also includes Bob Ockenden, Candace Lee, Linda Teglash, and Kevin Berry, will help deliver outstanding results for our Town. After getting to know each board member over the past several weeks, Penfield will be a shining example of what teamwork can accomplish. Simply put, every decision made will be in the best interest of this community.

Please reach out at any time with questions or concerns. I hope to speak with many of you in the coming weeks and encourage you to keep an eye out for new opportunities to share your priorities, ideas, or concerns for Penfield.

See you soon!
