A native of Penfield and current resident, Urckfitz has a multitude of parks and recreation experience. He began working at Penfield Rec in 2003 as a part-time camp counselor. Most recently, he served as acting Recreation Director. He also previously held the role of Assistant Recreation Director along with several years working for the Town of Pittsford Recreation Department.

Crane Preservation Award to Joyce and Ron Baroody, owners of the Mann-Owen House located at 2129 Five Mile Line Road, at the December 3rd meeting of the Historic Preservation Board. The Baroodys are credited with preserving Penfield’s past in ways that will sustain their property at 2129 Five Mile Road well into the future.

Winter Parking Rules for Roads and Highways

November 15 marked the beginning of the Winter Parking Rules ordinance in Penfield.  This means no parking is allowed on all roads/ highways between 2 am and 7 am. This allows the Department of Public Works crews to safely and effectively clear the roadways of fallen snow during the overnight hours. This ordinance will run through April 1, 2021.

Town Officials Approve 2021 Fiscal Budget

The town tax rate for 2021 will remain at 2.78 per $1,000 as the Town Board approves next year's Fiscal Budget during their October 21 Legislative Meeting. The Final Budget, including special districts, totals $20,632,799, a decrease of $38,593. The Town Operating Budget without special districts is $17,768,407.

The Town of Penfield is looking for volunteers for the 8th annual Terry Rothfuss Memorial Good Neighbor Day on Saturday, May 7 to help Penfield seniors, veterans, or those who are disabled to do light yard work and spring clean-up. Volunteers of all ages are needed, so bring the whole family!

FEMA to hold flood risk open house on November 29

Do you know your flood risk? FEMA is hosting an Open House on Flood Risk and Insurance. If you live in the towns of Brighton, Greece, Hamlin, Irondequoit, Parma, Penfield or Webster, or the city of Rochester, this is a chance to learn more about your updated flood maps, known as Flood Insurance Rate Maps. FEMA representatives will be there to answer questions about flood risk, flood insurance, and how to prepare for and protect against flooding.

Note from the Tax Receiver's Office:  School Tax season is just around the corner

School tax bills will soon arrive in everyone’s mailbox the first week of September.  The Town of Penfield will begin collecting school taxes on Friday, September 1.  The process for school tax collection is slightly different from town & county tax collection.

On Wednesday, September 6 at 6:30 p.m. a Public Hearing on the Town of Penfield Comprehensive Plan Update will be held during the Penfield Town Board meeting. The hearing will take place in the Penfield Town Hall auditorium (3100 Atlantic Ave.).

Supervisor Debbie Drawe announces approval of 2024 budget, tax rate remains flat

On Wednesday, November 1 the Penfield Town Board adopted the 2024 Town of Penfield Budget. The final budget totals $22,981,961. For 2024, the tax rate will remain flat at $2.10 with the Town of Penfield continuing to maintain one of the lowest tax rates in Monroe County.
