Recreation Update: Busy summer ahead with fun for all
It’s May and that means Penfield Recreation is about to kick into high gear. Summer is always our busiest time, and there are a ton of events and activities on the horizon for all ages.

Beginning in just a few days on Monday, May 15, registration opens to residents for summer recreation programs such as swim lessons, youth sports camps, and the DEAR program. Registration opens for non-residents on Monday, May 22. You can register here on our website.

As we look ahead to the upcoming schedule of events, here are some dates to remember:
  • Memorial Day Ceremony May 29 at Veteran’s Memorial Park and Penfield Amphitheater and Kiwanis Stage
  • 2023 Penfield Amphitheater & Kiwanis Stage Summer Concert Series (June-August on Tuesday evening). Once finalized, the full schedule of performances will be posted on our website.
  • Penfield Music and Food Truck Festival June 9 at Penfield Amphitheater and Kiwanis Stage (Penfield School Band Performances)
  • Independence Day Parade and Fireworks Event on July 1
For the latest details on upcoming events, please monitor our website.

Our Parks and Recreation Departments are continuously looking for areas to improve, and that work is continuing with the formation of the Parks and Recreation Master Plan Update Committee which will soon begin its work. If you are interested in serving on the committee, please email your resume to recreation@penfield.org. The deadline to apply is Monday, May 22.

Finally, in other news, we started evening and weekend staffing at Penfield Community Center on May 1. When visiting the facility outside of standard office hours, you will now see a reception desk located near the main entrance with a staff member available to assist. The desk will be staffed from 4:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. (Monday-Friday) and on weekends from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. (Saturday-Sunday).

Please feel free to reach out to our office with any questions you might have.

Have a great summer and see you around.

Andrew Urckfitz, Recreation Director
