Our work includes records management, publication of legal notices, fulfillment of Freedom of Information Law (FOIL) requests, issuance of permits and licenses, collection of fees, coordination of local elections, and notary services among other things.
My motto is to give the very best customer service possible. We take pride in what we do because it helps keep the community informed about what’s taking place in local government while providing important services.
To better explain all that we do and how we can help, I have outlined some of the key services our department provides.
Records management
We are responsible for creating, maintaining, and sharing agendas for all necessary Town Boards and Committees, and the publishing of public notices per New York State law.
With that, we maintain all Town documents and records as required by law. If you submit a FOIL (Freedom of Information Law) request, the Town Clerk’s Office will gather the proper information and process the request. You can learn more about FOIL requirements here.
To make sure we preserve all relevant records, we are currently undertaking a records preservation project. Records preservation work includes deacidification, surface cleaning, repair, mold remediation, archival rebinding, and archival-grade polyester sheet encapsulation. We are in the second year of this endeavor, and it is a valuable undertaking for the Town and the entire community. The project helps protect irreplaceable historical documents dating back to the 1800s.
Licensing and permitting
Another function of our office is the issuance of licenses and permits. You can stop by our office, and we will be happy to assist you with any of the following:
- Handicap-accessible parking passes
- Dog licenses
- Marriage licenses
- Conservation licenses (hunting, fishing)
- Door-to-door solicitation
- Games of chance licenses
- EZ Pass sales
Elections
We work closely with the Monroe County Board of Elections to secure polling sites for election districts in Penfield. For 2023, important dates to remember include:
- Primary election
- June 17-25 (early voting)
- Tuesday, June 27 (day of voting)
- General election
- October 28-November 5 (early voting)
- Tuesday, November 7 (day of voting)
Mobile DMV services no longer available at Penfield Town Hall
One final important note I want to make, while we once did hold mobile DMV events at Penfield Town Hall, this program is no longer offered.
Please visit the DMV website for office hours and locations.
Our office is always happy to help, and I encourage you to contact me if you have any questions by calling (585) 340-8629.
