Town of Penfield receives American Heart Association Workforce Well-being recognition
The American Heart Association (AHA) has recognized the Town of Penfield for its employee wellness programs with a “Silver” designation through the AHA Workforce Well-Being program.

The program utilizes a scorecard to evaluate the culture of health and well-being among staff members at organizations throughout the country. Numerous elements of workplace wellness are reviewed, including:
  • Mental health policies
  • Organizational well-being strategies to address employee burnout
  • Strategies to promote health equity in the workforce
  • Employer support of financial health, a key element of well-being
  • Impact of volunteerism and community partnerships
Using the elements outlined above, the Town of Penfield’s programs were compared to those of other organizations. Based on survey data, the Town of Penfield stacked up well against its peers receiving the third-highest scorecard rating possible of Silver.

In addition to seeing how the Town compares relative to other organizations, the survey assists the Town in identifying focus areas for improvement.

According to Employee Wellness Committee lead Laura Sliker, this program is a great measuring stick for the Town of Penfield’s wellness programs and initiatives.

“It is our goal to create a welcoming and healthy environment for all staff members,” said Laura Sliker. “We are regularly examining areas where we can improve, and look forward to continuing to make the Town of Penfield an even better place to work.”
