The Town of Penfield invites you to attend the Shadow Pines Celebration on Saturday, September 24 from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. at Shadow Pines (600 Whalen Rd).

The public event will provide an opportunity to celebrate Shadow Pines. A special plaque to commemorate the purpose of the land and its acquisition will be unveiled at 1:30 p.m.  

Several local recreation and environmental groups will be in attendance to highlight activities for which the Shadow Pines property can be used. 

Groups expected to be in attendance include: 

• Penfield Recreation Department
• Penfield Trails Committee
• Greater Rochester Disc Golf Club
• Genesee Region Off-Road Cyclists
• Color Penfield Green
• Healthy Yards Monroe County
• Friends of Shadow Pines
• Rochester Birding Association
• Pickleball of the Finger Lakes 

The Town bought Shadow Pines in 2018 after Penfield voters approved the purchase of the property which was previously home to Shadow Pines Golf Club. Over the past several years, the Town has been crafting a master plan for the 212 acres of land with input from the community.

“Our goal is to show off Shadow Pines and the opportunities it affords our community,” said Penfield Town Supervisor Marie Cinti. “We look forward to further developing the property for all to enjoy.”
