Daytime Education at Recreation (DEAR) is celebrating its 10 year anniversary at Penfield Recreation! DEAR is a free lifelong learning program for adults 50 and older. To celebrate they are having a mid-century-style picnic at Penfield Community Center on Wednesday, September 8 at 12:00PM. This event is free and open to all.
The afternoon festivities will include live '50s & '60s music by Mike Sidoti, vintage lawn and carnival games, Spam recipe-tasting contest, vintage cars, and a live rendition of everyone’s favorite TV gameshow 'What’s My Line'.
Miss Dottie’s 1950s food trailer will be available to sell vintage menu fare like $1 hot dogs, deviled eggs, coca cola baked beans, macaroni salad, chips and dip, $3 meatloaf sandwiches, the Elvis sandwich, and Tuna burger melt--the original recipe from Disneyland’s Pirate Ship Restaurant.
Would you like to join our best Spam recipe contest? First and second prizes awarded. Email us for a contest entry form.
