Memorial Day Ceremony of Remembrance

The Town of Penfield will hold its annual Memorial Day Ceremony of Remembrance on Monday, May 31 at Penfield Amphitheater in Veterans Memorial Park, 3100 Atlantic Avenue. The ceremony will begin at 10:30 AM.

“We can never allow our fallen military heroes and their service to this country to be forgotten,” said Penfield Town Supervisor Tony LaFountain. “Our debt to them is great, and so we will honor them with our gratitude and patriotism, while enjoying the freedom they earned for us.”

This annual ceremony will feature a variety of tributes to fallen veterans, including guest speaker First Class Petty Officer Charlton Harley, a recruiter with Navy Talent Acquisitions Group Pittsburg; and essays by middle school students.

A highlight of the ceremony will be Penfield’s traditional Presentation of Roses. During this time, community members remember fallen military personnel with a rose placed on the Veterans’ Memorial monument stone. Those who are interested in participating in this presentation should call 585-340-8651.
