Volunteer to be a Penfield Good Neighbor on May 8

The Town of Penfield is looking for volunteers for the 7th annual Terry Rothfuss Memorial Good Neighbor Day on Saturday, May 8 to help Penfield seniors, veterans, or those who are disabled to do light yard work and spring clean-up. Volunteers of all ages are needed, so bring the whole family!

“This is one of my favorite events of the year,” said Sabrina Renner, Penfield Recreation supervisor. “The generosity and caring for our community is so palpable; our volunteers want to do anything they can to help their neighbors, and those receiving the help are so very grateful. It reminds us how important those connections are; if we are able, we should make sure those around us have what they need.”

Volunteers will meet at the Rothfuss Farm the morning of the event for refreshments and to receive assignments. Projects will require no more than a 3-hour commitment.

To sign up to help or receive help, please call Sabrina at 340-8651, or email srenner@penfield.org.

This year, the Town of Penfield is pleased to welcome Browncroft Community Church to celebrate being good neighbors! They invite the whole community to Rothfuss Park on Saturday, May 8, 10:00 am-1:00 pm for fun, food, and a time to catch up with neighbors. The event will include food trucks, a food drive for Penfield Ecumenical Food Shelf, and fun activities including inflatables and a speed pitch!

This past year has been difficult and this will be a time to safely celebrate our amazing Penfield community! The event is free and open to the public.

**Although both events are outdoors, masks, proper hand hygiene, and physical distancing is required for all to stay safe.

Terry Rothfuss was a farmer in east Penfield who was a friend to all. He was always ready and willing to help anyone at any time. When he passed away in 2014 there was a huge hole left in the community. His friends and family wanted to carry on Terry's legacy of friendship by continuing to help their community and inspire others to do the same.
