Note from Supervisor Leenhouts: Busy summer season ahead
The summer season is the busiest time of year for the Town of Penfield. Since becoming Town Supervisor, I have developed a deep appreciation for just how much time and effort it takes to plan and execute everything from June through August. It's a big undertaking, from preparing our fields for games to making sure Penfield Amphitheater is ready to host concerts.

Programs and Events

Speaking of concerts, our Summer Concert Series happens at Penfield Amphitheater each Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. You can enjoy all types of music, and we even have three kids-themed concerts on July 2, July 23, and August 20. The concerts run through August 20; you can see the full schedule here

In just a few days, we will host our largest event of the year, the annual Independence Day Celebration, on Saturday, June 29. From the parade to the live music and the fireworks, our community looks forward to this day each year. And did I mention our fireworks display will be even bigger this year? You don't want to miss it. Full event details are available on our website.

We also have numerous summer programs at Penfield Rec and Penfield Public Library. With programs for all ages, I encourage you to take advantage. There truly is something for everybody.

Infrastructure Improvement Projects

Warmer weather gives us a great chance to tackle infrastructure improvement projects. A few highlight projects include paving the parking lot at Penfield Community Center. This is a much-needed project, and I am happy to get it completed.

Work is also getting underway on the Allen Creek stabilization and restoration project, which is expected to last through early fall.

And finally, we'll be doing numerous roadway improvement and paving projects. Keep an eye on the website and social media for the latest information on the upcoming projects.

Community Health and Wellness Fair

I am really excited about a new event that we'll be hosting this year, the Penfield Community Health and Wellness Fair organized by our Employee Wellness Committee.

The event will take place Friday, August 23, from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. at Penfield Community Center and feature health, safety, and wellness organizations from throughout the area. You'll have a chance to connect with the organizations and learn about the services offered in our area.

We will also have food trucks and equipment on display from our Department of Public Works and local emergency agencies.

Thank you, Penfield team

Finally, and most importantly, I extend my gratitude to our employees for their dedication in making all of this happen. Nothing would be possible without our incredible team. If you see one of our staff members working at an event or out fixing our roads, take a moment and say thank you.

See you around.

Jeff Leenhouts, Town Supervisor
