Allen Creek stabilization and restoration project to begin in June

In early June, contractors will begin a stream stabilization and restoration project on Allen Creek within the Town of Penfield. Work will be concentrated in the southwest corner of the Town just south of Penfield Road, west of Panorama Plaza.

In total, approximately 2,600 feet of stream will be stabilized and restored. Work will address bank erosion, stop channel incision, reconnect the channel to its floodplain to increase storm flow attenuation, and restore the channel plan and profile. The design utilizes natural stream stabilization elements such as root wads, mud sills, cross vanes, pools, and riffles.

All work will comply with the environmental permitting process and will be monitored by the Town of Penfield, New York State Department of Environmental Conservation, and a stream stabilization consultant. Work is anticipated to be completed by early fall. No road closures are expected.

Should you have questions or concerns, please contact the Town of Penfield Engineering Department at (585) 340-8681.
