Supervisor's Note: April 2022

As the weather warms, we are all eager to spend more time outside.

Here in Penfield, we are fortunate to have many parks and facilities for residents and visitors alike to enjoy. Whether trekking through the trails at Harris Whalen Park or enjoying the playground at Rothfuss Park, there is a park to match your interests.

If you are new to the area or simply have not had the chance to explore our parks yet, I encourage you to do so.

Below is a list of Town parks:
  • Channing Philbrick Park
  • Greenwood Park
  • Harris Whalen Park
  • Heritage Park
  • LaSalle’s Landing Park
  • Panorama Valley Park
  • Rothfuss Park
  • Schaufelberger Park
  • Sherwood Fields Park
  • Thousand Acre Swamp
  • Veterans Memorial Park
Our parks host numerous events including weekly concerts during the summer months at the Veterans Memorial Park amphitheater. Several parks also offer pavilions and lodges for rent. Advanced registration is required for most facility rentals, and you can learn more on the Penfield Recreation website.

Along with our parks, Shadow Pines is utilized for a variety of activities. The Town continues to work with community groups to develop the municipal land in a way that provides maximum benefit to all community members. Planning is in the works for new amenities including a disc golf course, mountain biking trail, and pickleball courts. Each of the amenities is at various points in the planning process as we continue to explore funding and partnership opportunities.

A few projects are currently in progress, including the addition of three grass athletic fields at Rothfuss Park, and the installation of new sidewalks along Columbus Crossing near the Town Hall Complex. I look forward to the completion of both projects and further enhancing the amenities already available in our great Town.

Enjoy the warmer weather, and happy spring.
