NYS Urban Forestry Council awards grant to Town of Penfield

The Town of Penfield has been awarded a $1,000 grant through the New York State Urban Forestry Council Quick Start Program. Funds will be used to purchase trees for planting on Town-owned property.

Catherine DuBreck, Town of Penfield Junior Planner, submitted the application as part of the Town’s efforts to increase sustainability practices.

“Receiving this grant provides a great opportunity for the Town of Penfield,” said DuBreck. “Adding trees to Town lands improves the aesthetics of the area and also provides functional environmental benefits.”

In the coming weeks, the Town will be announcing plans for a planting event.
