The Draft 2010 Comprehensive Plan was presented to the Town Board on April 21, 2010.  The Board released the document immediately for public review and comment.  Copies are available for viewing at the Town Clerk's Office, the Library, and at the below link.

Comments are welcome and may be submitted via mail, hand delivery, fax, and e-mail to the Town of Penfield, Attn: Planning Department, 3100 Atlantic Avenue, Penfield, NY 14526, Fax:  (585) 340-8644, E-mail:  planning@penfield.org.  Every comment submitted in writing on or before September 17th will be provided to the Town Board for their consideration, reviewed by staff, and placed in the project file as part of public record.

Comprehensive Plan Process

The Comprehensive Plan Committee was appointed by the Town Board on May 7, 2008 to update the 2000 Comprehensive Plan now in effect.  A Comprehensive Plan is the legal foundation for all land use decisions and guidelines for development. The Town of Penfield strives to update this important planning document approximately every 10 years.  The committee was chaired by County Legislator Debbie Drawe and assisted by John Steinmetz of Steinmetz Planning Group and Matt Ingalls of Ingalls Planning and Design as consultants.

This update Committee consisted of 20 individuals who volunteered their time to take on this important process.  The Town Board worked to put together a Committee consisting of a broad cross-section of residents living within Penfield.  In this consultant-led, staff-assisted process, the Committee spent 23 months developing the Draft 2010 Comprehensive Plan to provide to the Town Board for their consideration.

Throughout this process there have been many opportunities for public input such as community forums, youth workshops, land use workshops, focus group meetings, and public hearings.  If you would like to be notified of updates to this webpage, please send an e-mail to planning@penfield.org with "add to Comp Plan Distribution List" in the subject line.  In an effort to keep all interested parties informed, we will gladly copy you in on e-mail notifications regarding the Comprehensive Plan.

DGEIS Public Comment Period – 9:00 a.m. August 5, 2010 through 5:00 p.m. September 17, 2010*

*Between August 5th and September 17th the Town Board invites the public to submit comments on the content of the Draft Generic Environmental Impact Statement (DGEIS) and the Draft 2010 Comprehensive Plan.  Both have been posted on this webpage, in the Town Clerk's Office and in the Penfield Public Library.
