Independence Day Events in Penfield

Believe it or not, Independence Day is just around the corner! Here is your schedule of events for the holiday here in Penfield. Independence Day Celebration July 2 & 3, 2010

Friday, July 2 at Harris Whalen Park - 5:00 - 10:00 pm
Great food and kids activities!
Chicken BBQ and Cruise Night
Music: Mike Kornrich Band-5:30 pm & Atlas-8:00 pm

Saturday, July 3 PARADE at 10:00 am - PHS to Penfield Community Center
**All parade route arteries will be closed during the parade**
Parade Marshals: Mr. & Mrs. Daniel Penfield
Parade Emcee: Don Alhart, 13 WHAM TV

Featuring: Webster Marching Band, Might St. Joes Drum and Bugle Corps, Gates Keystone Club Police Pipes and Drums, Prime Time Brass, Excelsior Brigade Fife and Drum Corps, Penfield Fire Company and Band, and MUCH more!

Saturday, July 3 at Harris Whalen Park, 2:00 - 11:00 pm
Great food and kids activities!
Bands: Radio Nation-2:00 pm, It's My Party-4:00 pm, Billy B & the Rhythm & Blues All-Stars-6:00 pm, and Dog House-8:00 pm
FIREWORKS at 10:15 pm

 


Parking Restrictions

July_4th_park_no_parking.jpgTo guarantee safe passage for emergency vehicles during the Town's Independence Day Celebration July 2 and 3, parking restrictions will be enforced. "No Parking" signs will be posted on Thursday, July 1, and removed after event. The Monroe County Sheriff's Department will be monitoring compliance. Tickets will be issued and cars will be towed at owner's expense.

Harris Whalen Park Neighborhood
Parking will be prohibited on one side of these neighborhood streets adjacent to Harris Whalen Park:

  • Avonmore Way
  • Hidden Meadow
  • Hillrise Drive
  • Lazy Trail
  • Valley Green Circle
  • Valley Green Drive
  • Maple Hill Farm Road
  • Maple Leaf Circle

Baird Road Neighborhood
Parking will be prohibited on one side of Wheelock Road and the southern portion of Peachtree Road.
Parking will be prohibited on both sides of the following streets:

  • Baird Road north of 441 to Whalen Road
  • Hotchkiss Circle
  • Henderson Drive
  • Kenmont Drive
  • Peachtree Road (northern portion)

Fireworks Traffic Flow & Parking
To provide for a smooth traffic flow and pedestrian safety after the fireworks on July 3 at Harris Whalen Park, the Town Board has established the following parking facilities and traffic restrictions:

Wegmans Parking Lot -Vehicles using the main exit to Penfield Rd at the light across from Harris Whalen Park will be directed west toward the city. There will be no right-hand turns allowed. Both exits onto Rt. 250 will be limited to right-hand turns only. All traffic will be directed south toward Fairport. There will be no exit allowed at the Penfield Rd exit at HSBC Bank.

Parkside Commons/ESL/Dunkin Donuts -All traffic will exit onto Rt. 250 and be directed north toward Webster. The southern exit onto Penfield Rd. will be closed.

Penfair Plaza -The south exit onto Penfield Rd. will be limited to left-hand turns only toward Walworth to the east. The Hess Station exits will be closed. The west exit onto Rt. 250 will be directed north toward Webster. The Rt. 250 exit at the Post Office will be closed.

Platinum Complex -All traffic will be directed north toward Webster.

Willow Pond Way - All traffic will be directed west toward the city.
