| Notice is hereby given that the Assessor of the Town of Penfield, County of Monroe, has completed the Tentative Assessment Roll for the current year and that a copy is available in the Assessor's Office, Penfield, Town Hall, 3100 Atlantic Avenue, 2nd Floor, Room 203, Penfield, N.Y. where it may be seen and examined by any interested party until the fourth Tuesday of May (May 28, 2013) during normal working hours of 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. weekdays, Monday through Friday.
The Assessor or her designee will be in attendance with the Tentative Assessment Roll in the Assessor's Office on the following dates and times:
May 07, 2013 (9:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m.)
May 08, 2013 (4:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m.)
May 16, 2013 (9:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m.)
May 18, 2013 (8:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.)
The Board of Assessment Review will meet on May 28, 2013, between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 8:00 p.m. in the Penfield Town Hall Auditorium, 3100 Atlantic Avenue, Penfield, N.Y. to hear complaints in relation to assessments and on application of any persons believing to be aggrieved. Applications will be available in the Assessment Office on May 1, 2013. Applications must be completed and filed with the board of Assessment Review on or before May 28, 2013.
Basic STAR Proposal
The 2013-2014 State Budget includes a proposal that would require all Basic STAR recipients to register with the State Tax Department in order to receive or continue receiving STAR. While the Legislature has not yet passed the State Budget here is some general information regarding the proposal is below; additional details will be provided after the budget is enacted:
- The new registration would apply only to Basic STAR recipients ; Enhanced STAR recipients will NOT be impacted.
- All recipients of Basic STAR, including taxpayers already receiving the exemption, would need to register with the State Tax Department.
- The program would apply to 2014 STAR exemptions - taxpayers would not need to take any action now.
- Existing Basic STAR recipients would be notified directly by the State Tax Department when it is time to re-register.
