Andy Moore was first elected Penfield Town Councilman on November 4, 2008; he was re-elected November 3, 2009.
Councilman Moore is Chair of the Law & Finance Committee where he works closely with Supervisor LaFountain on budgetary matters. Moore continues to be an advocate for fiscal responsibility and has voted for five straight Town budgets that did not raise the Town tax rate. He played an active role in launching the Town's streamlining process that helps local businesses get started, grow and create jobs in Penfield.
Moore also serves as liaison to Penfield Little League and Chair of the Town Transportation Committee. He served as Deputy Town Supervisor for three years and was Public Safety liaison to the Monroe County Sheriff's Office, Penfield Volunteer Ambulance and the Penfield Volunteer Fire Department.
Councilman Moore has sponsored two "Operation Safe Child" Clinics with Sheriff Patrick O'Flynn where Safe Child ID cards containing a child's name, specific biographical information and finger prints were created for parents. If an unfortunate situation arises where a child is missing or abducted, this card can be used by the Sheriff's office to help disseminate accurate information to other law enforcement agencies and help find the child.
Moore also sponsored a "Penfield Passport Night" with County Clerk Cheryl Dinolfo. This event, held at the PenfieldTown Hall, provided residents a convenient location and time to apply for this critical government document.
Open and accessible Town government is important to Councilman Moore. He continually hosts "Office Hours" at various locations throughout the Town and is available before and after each Town Board meeting to talk to residents.
Andy Moore was raised in Penfield, attended ScribnerRoadElementary School, BayTrailMiddle School and graduated from PenfieldHigh School (Class of '89). As a youth, he played in Penfield Little League, Penfield Youth Soccer and was a Boy Scout in Troop 9 at HarrisHillElementary School, achieving the distinguished rank of Eagle Scout.
Moore enjoys volunteering with the Boys Scouts of America by serving on Eagle Scout Board of Reviews and was past Boy Scouts Nominating Chairman for the Bay Waters District. He was also a member of the Penfield Bicentennial Committee.
Andy Moore, a graduate of Colorado State University, and wife Nicole are the proud parents of Thomas and Kate.
