The last guided scenic trek by the Penfield Trails Committee will be held on Saturday, December 9 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the Thousand Acre Swamp. This hike will tour paths and boardwalks on the Nature Conservancy’s Thousand Acre Swamp. A variety of habitats including woods, meadows and a pond will be covered. The guide will emphasize winter nature lore such as identifying trees in their winter dress, looking for tacks (if there is snow) and other signs of animals. Meet at the rear of Penfield Volunteer Emergency Ambulance building on Jackson Road and look for the hike signs.

General FYI…starting this week the Assessor’s Office will begin mailing exemption renewals for the 2018 Assessment Roll. The Enhanced STAR income limit for 2018 remains at $86,000.

With the nice weather over the Thanksgiving holiday many residents were able to get the last of their leaves cleaned up and many were brought to the edge of roadways. Please make sure your leaves do not cover catch basins and storm drains to help prevent flooding…thank you.
