You may recall the Four Corners Clock was damaged in the March 8 windstorm. We have been waiting for a manufacturer’s representative to assess the problem, and last week a specialist spent a half-day working on repairs. It appears as though the windstorm did more damage than originally thought. Some of the clock’s hardware has since been updated and a more significant re-build is necessary. We have asked to have the work completed by June 30 as we ready for the July 1 parade and celebration.

Mark your calendars for Saturday, July 1 for Independence Day 2017 in Penfield. The parade will begin at 10 AM and will include the Penfield Fire Company Band, Gates Keystone Club Police Pipes and Drums, Downbeat Percussion, Towpath Volunteers Fife & Drum, Kelley’s Heroes Marching Band, The Savannah Cellar Savers, and more! Mr. Don Alhart will once again be our Parade Emcee. This year’s Parade Marshals are the Penfield Ecumenical Food Shelf (PEFS is being recognized for 20 years of service to the Penfield Community) and Mr. Dave Woodward, owner of Woody Acres. Dave and his family have been farming for more than 100 years in Penfield.

Enjoy music, food and fun at Harris Whalen Park from 5:00 to 10:00 PM with Rochester Blues Revue and Dog House. Fireworks will be at 10:00 PM. Watch for details at and

Congratulations to the Penfield Art Association (PAA) on their recent Spring Art Show and Sale at the Penfield Community Center. This annual event showcased more than 120 paintings by the membership of this 54-year-old club. I would also like to recognize Betty Bird, this year’s Spring Show and Sale Chairperson, and all of the members of PAA for another successful show.

I recently had the honor of attending a ribbon cutting ceremony for the Rochester Regional Health (RRH) grand re-opening of their newest “Immediate Care” at 2226 Penfield Road. This new center has broadened RRH services to support the residents of Penfield and surrounding areas with emergency and non-emergency care. Thank you for being part of the Penfield community!

The last Flapjack Saturday Community Fundraiser will be held on Saturday, June 17 from 8:00 to 10:00 AM at the First Baptist Church of Penfield, 1862 Penfield Road. Come get cozy with an awesome all-you-can-eat breakfast of delicious pancakes, pure maple syrup, scrambled eggs, sausage, and more—all for just $5.00 per person!
