Andy Moore was first elected Penfield Town Councilman on November 4, 2008; he was re-elected by Penfield residents in 2009 and 2013.
Councilman Moore is Chair of the Law & Finance Committee where he works closely with Supervisor LaFountain on budgetary matters. As a Councilman, he continues to be an advocate for fiscal responsibility having voted for seven Town budgets that did not raise the Town tax rate. Andy played an active role in launching the Town's streamlining process that helps local businesses get started, grow and create jobs in Penfield.
Andy also serves as liaison to Penfield Little League and Chair of the Town Transportation Committee. He served as Deputy Town Supervisor for three years and was Public Safety liaison to the Monroe County Sheriff's Office, Penfield Volunteer Ambulance and the Penfield Volunteer Fire Department.
Councilman Moore has sponsored two "Operation Safe Child" Clinics with Sheriff Patrick O'Flynn. At the Clinics, Safe Child ID cards containing a child's name, specific biographical information and finger prints were created for parents. If an unfortunate situation arises where a child is missing or abducted, this card can be used by the Sheriff's Office to help disseminate accurate information to other law enforcement agencies and help find the child.
Andy also sponsored a "Penfield Passport Night" with former Monroe County Clerk Cheryl Dinolfo. This event, held at the Penfield Town Hall, provided residents a convenient location and time to apply for this critical government document.
Open and accessible Town government is important to Councilman Moore. He has hosted "Office Hours" at various locations throughout the Town and is available before and after each Town Board meeting to talk to residents.
Andy Moore was raised in Penfield, attended Scribner Road Elementary School, Bay Trail Middle School and graduated from Penfield High School (Class of '89). As a youth, he played in Penfield Little League, Penfield Youth Soccer and was a Boy Scout in Troop 9 at Harris Hill Elementary School, achieving the distinguished rank of Eagle Scout.
Andy enjoys volunteering with the Boys Scouts of America and has served on Eagle Scout Board of Reviews. He was also a member of the Penfield Bicentennial Committee.
